Curcumol inhibits encephalomyocarditis virus by promoting IFN-β secretion

Abstract Background Encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV) infection can cause reproductive failure in sows and acute myocarditis sudden death piglets. It has caused huge economic losses to the global pig industry that is why it necessary develop effective new treatment compounds. Zedoary turmeric oil been used for treating myocarditis. Curcumol extracted from roots of curcuma one main active ingredient zedoary oil. The anti-EMCV activity curcumol along with molecular mechanisms involved a focus on IFN-β signaling pathway was investigated this study. Method 3-(4,5-dimethyithiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay determine maximum non-toxic concentration (MNTC), 50% cytotoxic (CC 50 ), inhibition rate (MIR) (EC ) against EMCV.
